John Louis was the son of Louis Jackson and Donnie "Lankford" Rogers. He married Sallie Rea Vaughan, daughter of John Davis ELDRIDGE Vaughan. He served in the Navy in WWII and was injured while working on a ship and had to have his elbow wired together for the rest of his life. He convalesced and spent a lot of time in New York City around the end of the war, according to his son.
