AGEE, James Melvin Age 77, a native of Mt. Juliet, TN, died Tuesday, March 1, 2011. Melvin attended Green Hill Church of Christ. He worked as a mechanic for Castleman's Garage in Mt. Juliet, and as a heavy equipment mechanic for Jones Bros. Construction Co., McDowell Contractors, and finally for Lo-Jac Enterprises. At one time, he also operated a service station and garage on Lebanon Road. Melvin was known as a good story teller, and as a friendly, unpretentious, and quality human being. He died as he had lived, with courage and dignity. He was the son of the late Buell and Della Mae Poindexter Agee. He was also preceded in death by his wife of 50 years, Dorothy Singleton Agee. He is survived by children, Julia (Mike) Hamblen, Butch (Wanda) Agee and Roy (Kristie) Agee; brother, Nealon (Goldie) Agee; sister, Betty Joyce (Jim) Britnell; grandchildren, Glenn Hamblen, Susan Hamblen Montgomery, James Agee, Matthew Agee, Anna Henley, April Chapman and Adam Henley and 9 great-grandchildren. Graveside services will be conducted 2 p.m. Friday, March 4, 2011 at Mt. Juliet Memorial Gardens, with Bro. August Ruff officiating. Active Pallbearers will be Macey Agee, Manny Agee, Mark Brewer, Tommy Brewer, Thomas Poindexter and Bubba Hendrix. Honorary Pallbearers will be Billy and Betty Green and the employees of Lo-Jac. Flowers accepted or memorials may be made to Odyssey Hospice, 444 Metroplex Drive, Suite B-102, Nashville, TN 37211.
