He was born May 30, 1930, in Troon Scotland, emigrated to Toronto, Canada, in 1954 and lived in Avon Lake for 40 years.
Walker began his career in Canada with Burroughs Business Machines working as a chemist, where he wrote a number of patents. He then came to Cleveland, worked for A.M. International as the lab manager and was promoted to technical director of the Cleveland Division.
In 1980, at the age of 50, he left A.M. to start a consulting business but saw a demand for ink printer ribbons and founded Ink Technology Corp. of Cleveland, of which he was owner and CEO. His company is now a leader in inkjet technology.
Walker was a member of Avon Lake United Church of Christ, where he was instrumental in establishing the Stephen Ministries Program; and a member of Mid-Century Masonic Lodge 725 of Avon Lake, Al Koran Shrine and Scottish Rite of Cleveland, Spring Valley Country Club of Elyria and Aqua Marine Thursday Night Men's Golf League.
He was a graduate of Glasgow (Scotland) University with the equivalent of master's degree in chemistry. He was a patron of the Cleveland Orchestra and the University Circle Area and enjoyed travel.
Survivors include his son, Iain R. Walker of Lakewood; daughter, Fiona E. Walker of Avon Lake; his fiance, Janice Minadeo of Mayfield; brother, Bill Walker in Perth, Australia; sister, Catherine Pearson of London, England; and four grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife of 30 years, Catherine J. (nee Dickie), in 1988; his parents, Robert and Catherine (nee Campbell); brothers Robert Walker and Campbell Walker; and sister, May Miller.
Friends may call Friday, 2 to 4 and 6 to 9 p.m., at Busch Funeral Home, 163 Avon-Belden Road, Avon Lake. Services will be Saturday at 11 a.m. in Avon Lake United Church of Christ, 32801 Electric Blvd., at 11 a.m. The Rev. Kelly Peters will officiate. Burial in Resthaven Memory Gardens will take place later.
