Verda L. Seymour, 83, and a resident of Gulfport, passed away Saturday January 26, 2007, in Gulfport.

She was a long time resident of the Coast who had been employed as a waitress at many of the landmark restaurants that are now gone such as Angelos, the Confederate Inn, Best Western and the Bayou View Golf Course. Mrs. Seymour was a longtime member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Gulfport and a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Knights of Columbus #1583.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Vincent Seymour, Sr.; a child: Darryl Van Seymour; and her parents: James P. and Lenora Gartman.

Her survivors include her sons and their wives: Robert and Leatrice Seymour, New Iberia, LA, Ronald and Sharon Seymour, Vancleave, Gary and Annette Seymour, Gulfport and Vincent (Tony) and Donna Seymour, Lizana; a sister: Joyce Shank, of Gulfport; ten grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; and her care giver: Rhonda Mires, granddaughter, Gulfport.

Family and friends are invited to attend the visitation on Monday evening from 7 p.m. until 9 p.m. with recitation of the Rosary at 7:30 p.m. at Riemann Memorial Funeral Home, US 49 north in Gulfport. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Tuesday January 30, 2007, at 2 p.m. at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Gulfport. Friends may call at the church from 1p.m. unil 2 p.m. Burial will follow at Evergreen Gardens Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family request donations be made in Mrs. Seymour's name to the St. Vincent DePaul Society, 2414 17th St., Gulfport, MS 39501.
