MRS. INDIA CATER
---Mrs. India Cater, wife of Dr. J.S. Cater and former resident of La Plata, died Wednesday evening, August 31, at the home of her son-in-law and daughter, Dr. and Mrs. J.C. Moore in Hoopeston, Illinois.
---After funeral services at Hoopeston, the body was brought to La Plata and short funeral services were conducted at the Christie Funeral Home Saturday morning at 10:00, Rev. F.L. Hudson had charge of the services. Burial was in the family mausoleum in the La Plata cemetery.
---Mrs. Cater was about seventy years old and had been ill for the past six weeks with a heart ailment. Mrs. Cater's maiden name was India Whitesel. She was married to Dr. Cater in 1886 at Locust Hill where the family lived. They lived at La Plata, Kirksville and Marceline until two years ago when they broke up housekeeping following the celebrations of their golden wedding anniversary and have spent their summers in Hoopeston and their winters in Florida with their children.
---Mrs. Cater leaves her husband, Dr. J.S. Cater and the following children: Mrs. Mable Moore, Hoopeston, Illinois, Mrs. Willard McWilliams, Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, Mrs. Daisy Yount, St. Joseph, Missouri, Clark Cater, Oak Park, Illinois, Raymond Cater, Winterhaven, Florida; one sister, Mrs. W.E. Williams of Ft. Lauderdale, Florida.
---Relatives here to attend the funeral included Dr. and J.C. Moore and son Joe of Hoopeston, Illinois, Mr. and Mrs. F.C. Cater and son James of Oak Park, Illinois, Mrs. Daisy Yount and daughter of St. Joseph, Missouri, Mr. and Mrs. Will Hunsaker of Kirksville, Mr. and Mrs. George Davis of Kirksville and Misses Ruth and Nina Cater of Marceline.
