PASSING OF PIONEER WOMAN, Mrs. Ann Marie Stansbery Dies at Advanced Age.

Mrs. Ana (sic) Marie Stansbery, widow of John Stansbery, and pioneer of 1862, died Thursday forenoon at the home of her daughter, Mrs. M. A. Zeller, 8 Union avenue, of heart failure, after a short illness. She was 74 years old, and was born in Lexington, Ind., where she was married to John Stansbery, who died 24 years ago. She and her husband crossed the plains and settled on a donation land claim on Columbia Slough, purchased from the owner, and were among the first settlers of that district. Mrs. Stansbery joined the Methodist Church when 18 years old, and retained her membership in Centenary at the time of her death. She was the mother of thirteen children, nine of whom survive her and who were present at the end. Following are her children: Mrs. Milton Sunderland, Mrs. A. J. Dufur, Mrs. S. E. Windle, Mrs. D. W. Zeller, Mrs. John Foster, Mrs. M. A. Zeller, J. E., S. E., and W. G. Stansbery. There are also 18 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. The funeral took place from Centenary Methodist Episcopal Church this afternoon at 2 o'clock. The interment was in the Love Cemetery on Columbia Slough." Published in the Oregonian on Sunday, March 12, 1905, Page 32

(This coincides with info on 1900 census where she is living with her daughter Mary Margaret Dufur in Portland: 13 children, 10 living in 1900). We don't know who the 13th child is.
