EFFINGHAM -- Clara Mae Page, 82, Effingham, died Monday, Aug. 16, 1999, at a Topeka hospital.

Mrs. Page had taught school for a short time in the Sugar Bowl School south of Effingham. She later was a machine operator for the Horton Garment Factory in Horton and in Atchison. And she had worked for Saunder's Mop Factory in Atchison and the Wheeler Hardware Store at Larkinburg.

She was born April 26, 1917, at Effingham, the daughter of Dean Daniel and Jennie Neill Hawk. She attended Effingham schools and graduated from Effingham High School in 1935.

Mrs. Page was a member of the Effingham Union Church.

She married Walter Scott Snyder on Jan. 15, 1936. He preceded her in death May 7, 1953. She later married Elmer Page on Nov. 15, 1955, at Horton. He survives.

Other survivors include two sons, Gerald Snyder, Everest, and Jim Snyder, Effingham; a sister, Pauline Head, Hiawatha; eight grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the Effingham Union Church.

Burial will be at the Evergreen Cemetery in Effingham.

Relatives and friends will meet from 7 to 8:30 p.m. today at the O'Trimble Funeral Home in Effingham.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Effingham Union Church and sent in care of the funeral home.
