Peggy Jean Ballard, 74, of Teague, passed away on Monday, July 20, 2009, at Hillcrest Baptist Medical Center in Waco. Funeral services will be Friday, July 24, 2009, at 2:00 p.m. at Porter Funeral Home Chapel in Mexia. Interment will follow at Mexia Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Peggy Jean was born on March 25, 1935, in Limestone County, Texas, to the late Elmer Thomas and Jennie V. Notgrass Hawkins. On August 23, 1950, she married Glynard "Buddy" Ballard in Mexia, Texas.
She was preceded in death by her husband; a grandchild; a great-grandchild; sister, Patsy Hawkins; in-laws, Joe and Pauline Ballard; and sister-in-law, Betty Moore.
