Before his retirement, Mr. Meales was a watchman at Brown Shoe.
Surviving are his wife: five sons, Thomas of Michigan City, Ind., Hershel of Milan, Tenn., Jessie (Doug) of Caruthersville, and Hubert (Pete) of Caruthersville; a daughter, Mrs. Hazel Laverne Reno of Caruthersville; two brothers, Bill and Basil of Lexington; five sisters, Mrs. Mae Springer of Memphis, Mrs. Annie Tate of Bernie, Mrs. Hester Herron of Steele, and Mrs. Willie Barr and Mrs. Bea Coffman of Lexington; and 17 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Ed Adams, Earl Curtis, Roy Gill, J.C. Goodman, Levi Woods and Neal Quinn. Interment was in the Maple cemetery with the H.S. Smith Funeral Home of Caruthersville in charge.
