Hardy Ireland, the son of William and Rhoda (Garrison) Ireland, was born February 5, 1896 at Eunice, Missouri. He died December 6, 1997 in Texas County Memorial Hospital in Houston, Missouri. He was 101 years, ten months and one day of age.
Hardy grew up around Summersville and married Mattie Beatrice Johnson, daughter of John Christian and Missouri Almeda (Inman) Johnson on February 26, 1923. Three children were born to this union, two sons Chelmer and Chloe; and one daughter, Naomi.
Hardy and Mattie raised their family on a farm near Cabool. They moved to Mountain Grove in 1968.
Hardy was a member of Odd Fellows Lodge of Mtn. Grove and a member of First Freewill Baptist Church. He was converted and baptized at 88 years of age.
