Sylvia Stivers Rural Kirksville, Dies At 77
---Sylvia Esther Stivers, 77, of Rt. 1, Kirksville, died at 2 o'clock this morning in a Kirksville hospital where she had been a patient since September 3.
---Born in southwestern Adair county on July 2, 1896, she was the daughter of George W. and Rosetta Jane Lagle Wood. On March 16, 1915 in Kirksville, she was married to Harrison Stivers who survives. Also surviving are one brother, Ernest Wood of Paonia, Colo. and several nieces and nephews.
---She was preceded in death by two daughters, Vera M. Stivers and one in infancy; four brothers, Jeff Wood, Frank Wood, Alva wood and Orval Wood and two sisters, Nora Crout and Ona Steele.
---Following their marriage, Mr. and Mrs. Stivers were engaged in farming in the Yarrow community for many years. Twenty-six years ago they moved into Yarrow where they lived until four months ago when they moved to Kirksville.
---Mrs. Stivers was a member of the Gifford Christian Church.
---Funeral services will be held Saturday afternoon at 2 o'clock in the chapel of the Foster Memorial Home. the Rev. Kenneth Kelley, pastor of the Hamilton Street Baptist Church, will conduct the services. Burial will be in the Canaday cemetery eight miles south of Kirksville.
---Bearers will be: Archie Whittom, Leonard Janes, Roxie Slaughter, Merle Janes, Joe Slaughter and Ray Farr
