Husband of Martha (Burchette) ButnerJohn Lunsford Butner was born Feb. 19 1847 at the home his father built beside Crooked Run Creek on present Butner Rd. in Tobaccoville, Forsyth County NC. He was the 10th of twelve children of Jacob and Elizabeth Hauser Butner. The fourth son John had 6 older sisters and 1 younger brother and sister. From June 1865 until June 1865, he served in the War Between the States known as The Civil War. He married Martha Louise Burchette. Together that had 12 children 3 girls and 9 boys. Robert Curtis, Roby Oliver, John M., Troy E., William Evan, Carrie L., Effie G., Laura F., Gene H., Dolphus C., Royal Hampton and Walter Thomas. He died June 10, 1925 and he and Martha are burried at Mt. Pleasants Uninted Methodist Church Cemetary.
