He married Ann Elizabeth Pace, an Admiral's daughter, probably in Annapolis, Maryland, about 1936. They had three children, including twins, son and daughter.
He graduated from the US Naval Academy in June, 1935, and attained the rank of Captain which was boosted to Rear Admiral on his retirement in about 1961.
He died on September 1, 2001, in Knoxville, Tennessee, at the age of 88, and was buried at the Tennessee Veterans Cemetery. He was a veteran of WWII, the Korean Conflict and served at the onset of the Vietnam War.
