"Daniel, William, jurist, b. in Winchester, Va., 26 Nov., 1806; d. in Lynchburg, Va., 28 March, 1873, was educated at Hampden Sidney college and at the University of Virginia, and while yet a youth was a lawyer of large practice and wide reputation for eloquence. He was elected to the Virginia house of delegates before he was of age. He was an elector on the Polk ticket in 1844. He was a judge of the supreme court of appeals of Virginia from 1847 till 1865."

His children with his first wife, Margaret Baldwin were Mary Cornelia Briscoe Cabell, 1804-1843, William Daniel, 1806-1873, William Powell Daniel, 1808-1857, my great-great-great grand father, and Elvira, Martha, and Eliza who all died in infancy.
