Harmon Hillsberry was born circa 1810 in Pennsylvania and was widowed by the time he brought his family to Champaign Co., IL in 1852. He was buried on his property in the area of East Bend township up on the hill. The current owners (in 1980s) had the marker stored in their barn until I requested Fern Sepp and her husband to retrieve the marker since they no longer wanted it and were not related to the Hillsberrys. I had the marker relocated to this cemetery so that it will be preserved in memory of Harmon Hillsberry.
The death date on the marker does not match the probate records. According to this source, he died on or about 18 Jan 1862. His son William was appointed as the administrator of Harmon's estate on 27 Jan 1862. The date on the marker must have been added at a later date.
