James Edward Sanders, 52, 1615 Tunnelton Road, Bedford, died Saturday evening August 4, 2007 at his residence. Born Feb. 21, 1955, in Bedford, he was the son of John Gilbert and Wanda A. (Griffin) Sanders. He married Kathy Strunk and she survives. He was an Independent Construction Contractor. He was a member of Local No. 181 Operating Engineers of Henderson, Ky.; Unity Missionary Baptist Church in Bedford; and enjoyed gardening, being with his family and being with his church family. Surviving with his wife of 29 years, Kathy Sanders of Bedford; are his mother, Wanda A. Roberts and husband Lyle of Bedford; two daughters, Gina Thompson and husband Mark of Orlando, Fla., and Debbie Sanders of Bedford; one son, Matthew Sanders and wife Kasi of Jasper; five grandchildren, Savannah and Summer Thompson, and Cameron, Calvin and Madeline Sanders; one brother, Thomas Sanders of Bedford; and one sister, Marilyn Sanders of Bedford. He was preceded in death by his father and one brother, David Allen Sanders. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Unity Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. Danny Goens officiating. Burial will follow in Springville Cemetery.
