A graduate of Breckenridge High School, Truman was a retired vocational agricultural teacher. He was one of the first recipients of the Lone Star Farmer Scholarship. He received his bachelor of science dgree in agriculture from Texas A&M University and his master's in education and history from Northern Arizona University. He taught vocational agriculture in Alexander, Woodson, Paint Creek and Throckmorton in Texas and in Chandler and Flagstaff, Arizona before retiring in 1976. He was a soil conservationist in Seminole from 1948 to 1962. He was an Army Air Corps Veteran of World War II. Survived by his wife, Evelyn; daugther, Jane; sister, Emma Bordner; and two grandsons.
