Alex had ranching interests in Stephens and Erath counties, and was instrumental in organizing the National Cutting Horse Assn. He was a member of the Southwest Cattle Raisers Assn., a charter member of the American Quarterhorse Assn. and a director and lifetime member of the West Central Texas Cutting Horse Assn. Survived by his wife; a daughter; three sons; a sister; three brothers; five grandsons.
