9/4/1950 Married; Announcement is made today of the approaching marriage of Marie Ann Garris and William L. Hartmann. The bride-elect is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John J. Garris and Mr. Hartmann is the son of Mr. and Mrs. William Hartmann all of this city. The ceremony will take place Sept. 4 at Sacred Heart church at 9:00 a.m. Miss Garris, who was graduated from the Sacred Heart school is employed at the Oelwein Chemical Co. Mr. Hartmann, a graduate of the Oelwein high, is with the Fareway Store.

4/17/2004 Obituary; Marie A. Hartmann, 74, died Thursday evening, April 15, 2004, in Mercy Living Plus after a lengthy illness. Services: 11 a.m. Monday, Sacred Heart Catholic Church, by the Rev. Frederick Fangmann. Burial: Woodlawn Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Gilenfeld Funeral Home, Oelwein, with a rosary at 7:30 p.m. led by Carol Hamilton.
Survivors include five sons, Steve of Arlington Heights, Ill., Gregory of Hazleton, James of Columbus, Wis., Eric of Cedar Falls and Kerry of Cedar Rapids; a sister, Cecilia Garris of Oelwein; and two brothers, Jerome Garris of Oelwein and Joe Garris of Brooksville, Fla.
