She was born Jan. 26, 1933, in Rochester to Jacob and Dolly Kale Miller. She was a lifetime resident of Rochester, where she attended Trinity United Methodist Church. She was a homemaker and had been employed at Topps Safety Apparel, Rochester, retiring on Dec. 31, 2008. Janet graduated as a proud member of the Rochester High School Class of 1951. In Rochester on July 19, 1953, she married the love of her life, Ralph Byron "Barney" Riffle Sr. Their married life spanned nearly four decades until the sudden passing of Barney on July 20, 1990. Their union produced four children, Ralph "Barney" Jr., Kelly, Kerry and Jacob "Hank." As a loyal devoted employee at Topps Safety Apparel, Janet was a seamstress. She totally loved going to work and sharing in the camaraderie, treasuring her many friends she regarded as extended family. To relax, in her spare time she enjoyed reading mysteries and playing the piano was a source of great satisfaction. Her garden provided summertime activities from the planting to canning. Janet shared the harvest of sweet corn, tomatoes and beans with her family and special friends. Janet was one of seven children. The importance of family was instilled in Janet as a young woman.
