Marva Leavitt Kington, 77, died early Wednesday morning in a local rest home following an extended illness.
She was born June 21, 1910 in Marysville to Horton B. and LaRinda Hendricks Leavitt. On November 20, 1930 she married Clifford Kington in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. For the Past 47 years they have made their home in Pocatello.
She was a nurse at St. Anthony's Hospital for 25 years, where she enjoyed working with new mothers and babies. She also worked as a tool-shop operator at the Naval Ordnance Plant.
She was a member of the LDS Church and served in the MIA, Primary, and Relief Society. She enjoyed music and played the violin while in high school. She especially enjoyed making hooked rugs for her family.
Survivors include her husband of Pocatello; two sons, C. Gerald Kington, Pocatello; Horton Gary Kington, Anchorage, Alaska; a sister, Lola Green, Phoenix, Arizona; seven grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a twin sister, Mamie Merrill.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Manning Funeral Chapel with Wilford Hunt of the Pocatello LDS Fourth Ward officiating. Burial will be in the Rexburg Cemetery with graveside rites at 2 p.m.
