Alice Virgil Turley was born Aug 7, 1881, in Montgomery County, Kentucky, to parents Joseph C. Turley (1848-1912), and Elizabeth F. "Mary" Thompson (1853-1927), both born in Kentucky.

Alice was the 5th child in a family of seven children. Her brothers and sisters were: Robert L. Turley (1872-1887), Roberta Turley-Maupin (1874-1965), Lila Louisa Turley-Dale (1877-1969), Albert R. Turley (1878-1926), Bessie D. Turley-Stafford (1884-1932), and Herman K. Turley (1886-). They were raised in a life of farming in Montgomery County, Kentucky.

On Apr 30, 1902, in Mt. Sterling, Kentucky, Alice married James Alexander Scobee (1875-1958), a son of James Washington Burroughs Scobee (1830-1893), and Sarah Elizabeth Jane McIntire (1836-1925), all born in Kentucky.

James and Alice settled into a life of farming in Montgomery County, Kentucky, and had four children: Albert Maupin Scobee (1904-1906), Frances Vansant Scobee-Porter (1907-), James Alexander Scobee, Jr. (1910-1964), and Dorothy Beryl Scobee-Brock (1914-1989).

After her husband died in 1958, Alice remained in Mt. Sterling, Kentucky, until she died Sep 7, 1969, at the Mary Chiles Hospital. She was survived by her daughters Frances and Dorothy, five grandchildren and three great grandchildren. She was also survived by a sister Lila Louisa Turley-Dale.

Alice and her husband are both buried in the Machpelah Cemetery in Mt. Sterling.
