Mr. Wilson was a Civil War Veteran. He was a 1st Lieutenant in the 1st Ohio Heavy Artillery Company L. He was a music teacher and truant officer after the war and lived at 700 Center St. in Findlay.Mr. Wilson, more commonly known as "Cap" and "Eb" to his friends. When the Civil War first broke out, He enlisted for three months in the 21st Ohio Volunteer Infantry. He was the principal musician or drummer. After his 3 month term was over, he enlisted again as a private in Co. A 1st Ohio heavy artillery where he received a commission as first lieutenant and served till war closed. After the war was over he returned to Findlay and was offered a scholarship in the Conservatory of Music at Meadville, Pa. After completing his course he went to Derrick City, and Bradford, Pa. where he was engaged in the oil business from 1879 to 1884. He then returned to Findlay and took up a position as teacher of music in the Findlay public school for four years after which he was truant officer of the schools for 14 years, retiring in 1911.
He was an active member of the Howard M. E. church, at one time being the choir leader. He was also a member of Stoker Post 54 G.A.R. and in the Mason Lodge.
