Longtime Longview resident Glenn Elroy Lien, 72, passed away Dec. 5, 2008, at the Hospice Care Center.

He was born Feb. 9, 1936, in Grand Forks, N.D., to Carl and Olive (Haugen) Lien and moved to the local area 65 years ago.

Glenn served two years in the Navy and retired from Weyerhaeuser in 1994. He was a member of the AWPPW. Glenn enjoyed woodworking, fishing, hunting, golfing and playing with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He loved to joke.

He married Shirley Walters May 18, 1958. She survives him at home. Also surviving are a son and daughter-in-law, Rick and Paula Lien of Silverton, Ore.; two daughters, Tammie Lien of Wellton, Ariz.., and Sherrie Lien of Seattle; two sisters, Lillian Baker of Castle Rock and Inez McCrosky of Astoria; four brothers, Orley Lien and Carl Lien, both of Longview, Leo Lien of Castle Rock and Doug Lien of Kalama; six grandchildren, Carey, Sarah, Lesinda, Jeremy, Nicole and Amanda; 12 great-grandchildren, Neil, Amaira, Owen, Kean, Tristen, Elizabeth, Evan, Kalen, Bailey, Ray, Patricia and Kaylee; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Glenn was preceded in death by two brothers, Ken and Alan; a sister, Slitz; and a son, Cary.

The family requests memorial contributions be made to the Community Home Health & Hospice, P.O. Box 2067, Longview, WA 98632 for their loving care.
