Alvin H. "Al" Fasel, age 86, a lifetime resident of Hobart, passed away Thursday, July 16, 2009. Al was a U.S. Army veteran of WWII and was awarded the Purple Heart. He was a retired truck driver for the City of Hobart, a member of Disabled Veterans, Hobart American Legion Post 54 and Trinity Lutheran Church.
Al was preceded in death by his parents: Charles and Elsie Fasel; brother, Carl Fasel; and sister Beverly Larimore.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Janet Sally Fasel; children: Diana (Guy) Brechbill, Darrell (Mary) Fasel, Dean (Carol) Fasel, Darlene Fasel, Dale Fasel and Dudley (Lisa) Fasel; grandchildren: Jayme (Paul) DeJulius, Mitchell (Melissa) Fasel and Jonathan Fasel; great grandchildren: Cameron Fasel, Sage Snow, Syan DeJulius and Cadence Fasel; sisters: Ruth (Elmer) Doege and Shirley Buchfuehrer. Funeral services will be held Monday, July 20, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church, 900 Luther Drive, Hobart, IN with visitation at the Church from 10:00-11:00 a.m. Pastor Gary Nagy officiating.
Burial at Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens, Schererville. Friends may visit with the family on Sunday from 2:00-8:00 p.m. at Burns Funeral Home, 701 E. 7th Street, Hobart, IN. There will be an American Legion Post #54 service at 6:00 p.m. www.burnsfuneral. com
