ABDAY_Phyllis Katherine Josephine Abday left her family to live with our maker on March 12, 2004 after a lengthy battle with Lupus. Phyllis was the second oldest of five girls, born on April 4, 1938 in Whitewood, SK. She was predeceased by her father Joseph Topinka and mother Josephine Topinka (Dolejsi). Leaving to mourn her passing are her husband and best friend of 46 years, Fred; son Dennis (Joan), Amy & Jody of Regina, SK., son Kyle (Brenda) Ryan, Clinton, Shane, Kristin & Megan of White City; her four sisters Geraldine Wendel of Saskatoon, SK., Louise Malowany of Craven, SK., Faye (Marvin) Rabe of Counsel, SK., and Ada Gott of Wolliston Lake, SK.; as well as many nieces and nephews. In the fall of 1981, Phyllis & Fred moved from Regina to their farm 2 1/2 miles southeast of White City where she worked with Fred to fulfill their lifelong dream of raising thoroughbred race horses and beef cattle. They have shared the spotlight and winners circle on numerous occasions for their race horses. They also prided themselves on buying bottom end cattle and nursing them back to health, only to return them back to market and start all over again. Phyllis's midwifery and doctoring skills were second to few as she often bragged about how she had yet saved another sick calf and "look at how the little bugger is growing." Phyllis was a horticulturist who loved landscaping and gardening. She also had a love for clocks the noisier the better. Anyone who has ever sat in her kitchen has heard the birds chirping, songs playing and bells chiming. She will be sadly missed by her husband, sons and daughters-in-law, but especially by her grandchildren who loved spending time at grandma's because, at her house, there were no rules. The family sincerely thanks everyone for their kindness shown through your thoughts, compassion and help.
