Date of death:
January 30, 2009

A resident of San Antonio and born Feb. 10, 1982, he died Friday, Jan. 30, 2009, in San Antonio. He was 26 and a native of Baton Rouge. He graduated from University Laboratory School and attended LSU. Chris had a warm and caring heart, a smile that brightened the room, and a laugh that was contagious. He was an amazing blessing to all those who knew him. He loved life, boiling crawfish with Andrew, his brother and best friend, and all things LSU. Above all, he loved his family and friends and the time he spent with them. He moved to Texas in 2007 to begin a new chapter in his life. There, most importantly, he sought and found a deeper and more abiding relationship with and faith in God. "Always" was his parting word whenever he left you. "Always" is where he will live in our hearts forever. Survived by his mother, Debbie Baer, of Kerrville, Texas; father, Michael S. Baer III, of Baton Rouge; sisters, Deborah Baer Johnson and Gwen Baer Thompson; brothers, Andrew Chase Baer and Michael S. Baer IV; special nieces, Mackenzie and Natalie; maternal grandfather, Claude S. Harkins; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. Preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Michael S. Baer Jr. and Gwen W. Baer. Pallbearers will be Andrew Baer, Blake Saia, Patrick Abadie, James Buchanan, Wesley Robert and Tommy Overton. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the University Laboratory School Foundation, LSU, Attn: Mila Sexton. Arrangements by Rabenhorst Funeral Home, 825 Government St., (225) 383-6831. Visiting at University Baptist Church, 5775 Highland Road, Baton Rouge, on Tuesday, Feb. 3, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Visiting at the church on Wednesday from 9 a.m. until religious service at 11 a.m., conducted by Dr. Jay Hogewood, Dr. George Haile and the Rev.
