Shortly after their marriage, Tom lost an arm due to an infection from an accident with a mule. Story was he was working with a team of mules, and one mule was stubborn so Tom got mad at him and hit him on the forehead with his fist. He continued to farm raising hogs and trading livestock.
Thomas A. George, age 87, of St. Paul died Friday in a hospital in Girard. He had been in his usual health until Tuesday, when he entered the hospital.
Mr. George farmed east of St. Paul until 1966 when he moved into town. Since retiring, he gave his time to doing errands and helping relatives and friends, such as getting mail and groceries for those who couldn't get out.
He attended the Germany Country School in Crawford County.
George was a member of St. Francis Catholic Church and Knights of Columbus Council 760 in St. Paul.
A concelebrated requiem mass for George will be offered at 10 a.m. Monday in St. Francis Church here in St. Paul. Burial will be in St. Francis Cemetery.
