George L. Drew Funeral Rites
Funeral services for George L. Drew, 70, of Lollie, who died early last night
in a Dublin hospital, after an illness of two weeks, will be held at 2:30pm
Friday at the Minter Baptist Church. The Rev. Monroe Carter and the Rev. T. H.
Beckworth will officiate with burial in the Blue Springs Cemetery in Laurens
County.
The body will be taken to the family residence at 2pm Thursday and will
remain there until the funeral hour.
Active pallbearers will be James Martin, Lewis Martin, I. T. Garnto, Lamar
Hester, Prentiss Graham, and Ralph Bostick.
Honorary escort will include Laren Thigpen, George Young, Jabo Donaldson,
Preston Young, Elbert Warnock, Dewey Warnock, Grable Ricks Sr., Elmer Bush,
Alver Spivey, and Felder Fulford.
Mr. Drew was a native of Laurens County, the son of the late John Drew and
Mrs. Rachel Charity Smith Drew. He was custodian of Wilkes School and a member
of the Baptist denomination.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Clara Martin Drew; two sons, Earl Drew of
Dublin and T. L. Drew of Lollie; two step-sons, Luther Wynn and Esrie Wynn,
both of Lollie; one step-daughter, Mrs. Meck Bush of Lollie; two sisters, Mrs.
Grady Hester of Lollie and Mrs. Dollie Graham of Dublin; two brothers, J. D.
Drew of Dublin and Joe W. Drew of Lollie; 11 grandchildren; and 4 great-
grandchildren.
Sammons Funeral Home of Soperton is in charge of arrangements.
