Nichols – William Poole 78, Nichols, died about 10:15 a.m. Thursday at Mercy hospital, Iowa City, where he had been admitted the day before for treatment of a heart ailment complicated by pneumonia.
A lifelong Nichols resident and retired implement dealer, Mr. Poole was born Jan 26, 1881, a son of Milburn and Julia Stafford Poole. He married Elsie Shafer April 15, 1901 at Nichols.
A member of the Christian church, Nichols, he belonged to Oddfellows, Canton Lodge at Iowa City and Pike Grange.
Survivors include his wife, one son Robert Poole, Chicago: one Brother Fred Poole, Nichols: one sister, Mrs. Edna Heath, West Liberty: and two grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one daughter, four sons, two sisters and one brother.
Funeral services for Mr. Poole will be held at 2:30 p.m. Sunday from Nichols Christian church. Rev. Noble Bollinger officiating. Burial will be at Nichols cemetery, Snider Funeral Home, West Liberty, in charge.
