HAYS — Lillian D. Basgall, 78, died July 12 at Hays Medical Center, Hays. She was born Sept. 14, 1930, at Pfeifer, to George and Christina (Jacobs) Roth. She married Edgar J. "Eddie" Basgall on Sept. 14, 1950, at Pfeifer. He died Oct. 8, 2001.

Mrs. Basgall was a homemaker, a member of St. Nicholas of Myra Catholic Church, HMC Auxiliary, Foster Grandparent Program, Senior Companions, past president of Band Mothers Association of Hays, and was a cook at USD 489 and Fort Hays State University.

Survivors include three sons, Stan Basgall and wife Rebecca, Hays, Neal Basgall and wife Ha, Omaha, Neb., and Chad Basgall, Hays; one daughter, Christine Basgall, Victoria; two sisters, Patricia "Patsy" Pfannenstiel, Ellis, and Victoria "Vickie" Harris, Houston, Texas; five grandchildren, Jynae Spellerberg, Justin Basgall, Aaron Basgall, Jayson Basgall and Breana Basgall; and one great-grandson, Logan Basgall. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; four brothers, Linus Roth, Alfred Roth, Celestine Roth and Alvin Roth; and six sisters, Minnie Wellbrock, Tina Rohleder, Sally Wellbrock, Alice Leiker, Theckla Jacobs and Viola Stecklein.

A vigil service will be at 7 p.m. Wednesday at Cline's Mortuary Of Hays, 1919 East 22nd, Hays. Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Nicholas of Myra Catholic Church, Hays. Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery, Pfeifer. Visitation is from 1 to 9 p.m. Wednesday and from 8:30 to 9:45 a.m. Thursday at the mortuary. Memorials are suggested to Holy Cross Charities Inc. and Masses.
