Perry's death certificate has Perry Roy Childress. Jerry's only has Jerry Childress. The joint grave marker has Perry Ray and Jerry Roy Childress.
The Northam Cemetery survey found on ncgenweb has the twins' surname as Childers; however, the boys' joint marker has Childress, as does a larger family tombstone with CHILDRESS. Their father's records indicate he began life with surname Childers but changed it to Childress, as is seen with other extended family members. The twins' paternal grandfather is consistently recorded as Willis Childers of Wilkes County NC.
At the time this memorial #106758106 was created, the issue with the erroneously transcribed name on the survey was unknown to this researcher. As per Find-A-Grave guidelines, a search was done for Childress and no record was found in Find-A-Grave for either twin. Months later it came to light that memorials existed under Childers. (Those memorials were subsequently changed to Childress in August 2013 after the grave marker was photographed). Due to the time spent to properly document and link the Childress and Maske families correctly, the twins' memorials entered in March 2013 will remain in place to insure historical accuracy.
