Waynesboro, Feb. 8. -- Fred Anderson Calfee, sixty-one, telegraph operator for the Norfolk and Western Railroad company, died at his home on Commerce avenue this morning at one o'clock following a short illness.

Funeral services will be held from the Etter funeral home Monday afternoon at two-thirty o'clock with the Rev. R.E. Truitt, pastor of Waynesboro Second Presbyterian church, officiating. Mr. Truitt will be assisted by Rev. W.E. McGilvrey and Rev. C.F. Moseley.

The deceased is survived by his wife, Mrs. Wertie Calfee; two daughters, Mrs. Howard Taylor and Mrs. Bernard Zeh; one son, Albert A. Calfee; and one sister Mrs. Guy Willson, all of this city.

He was the son of the late Albert P. Calfee and Mrs. Ida M. Calfee, his mother having preceded him in death on Sunday Jan. 6, 1941. Mr. Calfee was well known to many Waynesboro residents and for some years served as local chairman for the New York Herald Tribune Fresh Air Fund Children, arranging local vacation homes for numerous city youngsters.

Active pallbearers Monday afternoon will include D.D. Royer, Fred Armentrout, W.L. Taylor, R.H. Witt, Cheatwood Johnson, and Wilbur Hughson. Honorary pallbearers will include Lovell Hughson, Dr. D.E. Watkins, I.L. Janis, Dr. J.W. Scott, John Frye, Sr., E. W. Waller, Louis Spilman, Louis Jordan, D.F. Vines, E.L. Lambert, W.T. Walters, Dr. M.J. Payne, W.M. Kenney, Col. M.H. Hudgins, Charles Maupin, R.B. Harry, Dr. L.S. Booker, and W.E. Moore.
