Mrs. Mary M. Broughton, wife of W. Russell Broughton, rural route 6, died at 7:30 o'clock Friday morning;
at St. Mary's hospital. She was twenty- nine years old last Friday. Her death was caused by a complication
of diseases and followed a long illness. She had been in the hospital for the last nine days. Mrs. Broughton's maiden name was Mary M. Irwin. She was a daughter
of Rev. and Mrs. R. B. Irwin and was born in New Salem, Ill. May 9, 1901. She and W. Russell Broughton were
married In Covington, Ind.. Mar. 5, 1927. They came to the Mt. Zion neighborhood shortly after their marriage
and have lived there for the last -three years. She was a member of the Mt. Zion Presbyterian church. She was known to everybody in the community and had many friends.
She is survived by her husband and two sons, Russell W. Broughton and Stanley Irwin Broughton. She also leaves her parents. Rev. and Mrs. R. B. Irwin of Decatur, a brother R.
Bliss Irwin of Springfield, and his sisters, Miss Edith Irwin of Decatur, Mrs. Ruth Mclntosh of Oreana, Mrs.
Rachel Ash of Harristown, and Miss Eunice Irwin of Decatur. The body was taken to the Dawson & Wikoff
funeral home and prepared for burial. The funeral will be held at 2:30 o'clock Saturday afternoon at the Dawson & Wikoff chapel. The burial will be in the Mt. Zion cemetery.
