Benjamin Franklin Burnett, twelfth child of Swan and Frances Burnett, was another of their sons to go to Georgia, where he played a part in that state's history during and after the Civil War. He was a member of the Georgia Secession Convention in 1861, and of the postbellum Georgia Constitutional Convention in 1877. He was a representative from Clay County, where he lived and died at Fort Gaines as a planter and businessman
