Mrs. Hurt was born March 5, 1930, in Madison County, Virginia, a daughter of the late Haywood and Daisy Sisk Nicholson.
She was a member of Greenwood Baptist Church, the Berryville Moose Club, and had retired from DoubleDay Inc. in Berryville, Virginia.
She was married to the late Lloyd A. Hurt Sr .
Surviving are two daughters, E. Faye Shirley and Linda H. Petrie of Stephens City, Virginia; her sister, Darlene Kesner of Stephens City, Virginia; four grandchildren, John D. Petrie II and Jason W. Knight of Stephens City, Virginia, Andrew C. Petrie of Cross Junction, Virginia, and Jennifer L. Petrie of Linden, Virginia; and seven great-grandchildren.
Her son, Lloyd A. Hurt Jr.; five sisters and three brothers, preceded her in death.
A funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Thursday, July 16, 2009, at the Stephens City United Methodist Church with the Reverend Glenn Welsh and the Reverend Jeff Butcher officiating. Burial will follow at Shenandoah Memorial Park.
Pallbearers will be John D. Petrie II, Andrew C. Petrie, Jason W. Knight, Steve Wells, Michael Vann, and Terry Keller.
The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. Wednesday, July 15, 2009, at the Enders and Shirley Funeral Home in Stephens City.
