Dorothy Jean (Kelly) Adams, 81, of Richmond MO, went to be with her Lord on Sunday, November 27, 2011 at the Liberty Hospital in Liberty MO. Dorothy was born September 21, 1930 in Ray County MO, daughter of John and Hattie (Myers) Kelly. Dorothy married Millard Adams on August 25, 1950 who preceded her in death on December 27, 2009. Also preceding her in death were three children, Pamela Jean Adams, Bruce Alan Adams and foster son, Randy (Bales) Adams; parents, John and Hattie Kelly; six brothers, Edgar, Claude, Kenneth, Donald Kelly and infant twin brothers; three sisters, Della Yoakum, Leta Proffitt
and Freda Taibi. Survivors include one sister, Helen Buffo of Elcajon CA, and sister-in-law, Bessie Rose Kelly of Norborne MO; two granddaughters, Stacey Bales of Richmond, and Samantha Parkhurst and husband Curtis of Kansas City MO; four great-grandchildren, Hattie Bales, Savannah
Taylor, Corben and Shelby Parkhurst; two sisters-in law and many nieces and nephews.
Dorothy was a dedicated Christian, mother, grandmother and friend. She had a beautiful voice and used it to praise the Lord. She sang in the Trio "Highest Praise" with Ramah Gray, Charlene Cassity and Karen King. She taught school for many years and did clerical work for Tippins Oil in Richmond. She and her husband were managers of the
Richmond Rest Haven in the 1970s and 80s. She was a member of the Richmond Christian Union Church and an active member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Chapter #255. She lived most of her life in Ray County.
Visitation will be from 7-9pm with the Eastern Star Service
starting at 6:30p.m. Wednesday, November 30, 2011 at the Polley Funeral Home in Richmond MO. Funeral services will be at 2pm at the First United Methodist Church in Richmond, Thursday, December 1, 2011. Family suggest memorials to the Dorothy Adams Memorial Fund or the donors choice.
Burial will be in the Knoxville Cemetery in Knoxville MO.
