Obituary from The Waukegan News-Sun, August 24, 1959: " MRS. GERTRUDE BROOK ANTIOCH -- Mrs. Gertrude Brook, 74, of 484 Lake St., died yesterday at 12.30 p.m. at Victory Memorial Hospital. She had an eight-day illness due to a heart ailment. She was born Feb. 13, 1885, in Antioch Township, and she had lived in Antioch all her life. She was a member of St. Ignatius Episcopal Church, the Guild of the church, and the Antioch Woman's Club. She is survived by her husband, J. Ernest, president of the State Bank of Antioch; one son, William E., vice president of the bank; one brother, Donald Smart, of Waukegan; three sisters, Mrs. Emma Simons, Mrs. Pauline Smith and Mrs. Antoinette Fields, all of Antioch; and two grandchildren. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Ignatius Episcopal church. The Rev. Edmund Hood will officiate. Burial will be in Hillside Cemetery. Friends may call after 7 p.m. today at the Strang Funeral Home, and at the church from 10 a.m. Wednesday until time of service.
