John Willis Bachtel, 94, was born September 15, 1914, on a farm north of Latham, Kansas to his parents John Richard and Vilettie Knepper Bachtel. He passed away July 7, 2009.
John attended Enterprise Country School and was graduated from Latham High School in 1932.
On December 11, 1936, he married Lucile Bird in El Dorado.
He is survived by his daughters, Barbara Cerney of El Dorado, Betty and husband Gary Beach of Manhattan, Kansas; daughter-in-law, Janet Bachtel of Denver, Colorado; brother-in-law Charley and wife Virginia Bird of Augusta; grandchildren Linda Case, Robert and wife Angie Cerney, Debra and husband Rod Tapp, Melanie and husband Jeff Erickson, Dan Beach and Stephanie Beach; great-grandchildren Erin and husband Bryan Sanger, Kyle Chesnick, Kaden Erickson, Jessica and Joe Tapp, Kendall, Sarah and Seth Cerney; great-great-grandchildren Payton and Rylee Sanger.
John was preceded in death by his parents; spouse; brothers, Dan, Robert and Joe Bachtel; sisters, Ruby Williams, Bertha Burke, Meda Wilson and Mary Baker; and a son, John Wayne Bachtel.
