Date Enlisted: 25 Aug 1812. Date Discharged: 15 Feb 1813
Fifer, Captain John Reed's Company, Ohio Militia.

Militia members who served in Capt. John R. Reed's company drilled on Ashtabula Township land donated by tavern owner Peleg Sweet. The War of 1812 revived the threat of British invasion for Ohio settlers who lived along Lake Erie. In the summer and fall 1812, many of those settlers left their fields and homes to fight against the British and Native Americans.
