Betty (Donnerberg) Bergman Phlipot died on Friday, July 24, 2009, at 10:55 p.m. at the Lima Memorial Hospital in Lima.

She was born on March 15, 1929 in New Bremen, the daughter of Herbert and Leona (Kettler) Donnerberg. On July 6, 1946, she married Henry R. Bergman, who died April 5, 1995. On Feb. 10, 2007, she married Ernest "Ernie" Phlipot, who survives in New Bremen.

Also surviving are her children, Dave (Kathy) Bergman of Powder Spring, Ga., Tom (Sandy) Bergman of St. Marys, Jerry (Lynn) Bergman of Minster, Stan (Cindi) Bergman of Phoenix, Ariz., Ed (Cindy) Bergman of New Bremen, Alan (Becky) Bergman, of New Bremen, Bruce (Rhonda) Bergman of New Bremen, Terry (Rhonda) Bergman, of New Bremen, Mark (Dana) Bergman of New Bremen, Ron (Melissa) Bergman of New Bremen, Nancy (Jerry) Koesters of Lehigh Acres, Fla., Sandy (Dale) Schafer of Fort Loramie, Mary Jo (Dave) Bellman of Coldwater, Chris (Brad) Hausfeld of Springboro, Phyllis (Vince) Cuda of Lake Helen, Fla., Peg (Dan) Harrod of New Bremen and Sara (Mike) McNulty of Magnolia, Texas.

Additional survivors include 56 grandchildren; 42 great-grandchildren; sisters, Dorothy Feltman, Mary Lou Campbell and Donna (Robert) Nagel, all of New Bremen, Virginia Sweigart and Catherine "Katy" Jones of St. Marys; and a sister-in-law, Miriam Donnerberg of New Bremen. Other survivors include stepchildren, Bill (Julie) Phlipot of New Bremen, Dot Scheer of New Bremen, Tom (Brenda) Phlipot of New Bremen, Deb (Tom) Scroggins of Seabrook, Texas, Dan Phlipot of Conyers, Ga., and Ken (Amy) Phlipot of Celina.

Other survivors are 10 step-grandchildren and two step-great grandchildren.

Preceding her in death was a daughter, Judy Trisel; a grandson, Brian Bergman; great-grandson, Issac Hinton; and also a brother, James Donnerberg.

Mrs. Bergman was a member of the Church of the Holy Redeemer in New Bremen. She was a member of the New Bremen Senior Citizens and the Minster Fraternal Order of Eagles, Aerie 1391 Auxiliary.

She retired from the New Bremen Schools where she worked in the cafeteria.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held Wednesday, July 29th, at 10:30 a.m. at the Church of the Holy Redeemer in New Bremen with the Rev. Thomas Mannebach officiating. Burial was in German Protestant Cemetery, New Bremen.

Gilberg-Hartwig Funeral Home in New Bremen handled the arrangements.

Memorial contributions may be made to the church memorial fund or to State of the Heart Home Hospice.
