Mrs. Mary A. Bachtell died Wednesday morning at 8 o'clock at the home of her daughter Mrs. F. J. Reese in Pine Creek, after a lingering illness. Death was due to heart trouble and asthma. The maiden name of the deceased was Mary Hoover. She was born in Maryland and was 82 years of age. She was united in marriage to John Bachtell 65 years ago. Mr. Bachtell has been dead 18 years. Mrs. Bachtell came west three years ago to make her home with her daughter. She was a lady highly esteemed by all who knew her. Of a family of twelve children six are left to mourn her death. They are: Mrs. F. J. Reese of Pine Creek, Mrs. H. Winebrenner of Grand Detour, Mrs. Frank Sowers of Hagerstown, Md., Mrs. John Bowman of Beaver Creek, Md., Miss Helen Bachtell of Baltimore, Md., and Snavely Bachtell of Denver, Col. The funeral was held from the home of her daughter on Saturday, January 10, at 2 P.M.; interment in the Grand Detour cemetery.
