Naomi L. Ashbury
Naomi L. Ashbury. 81, of Sioux City died Friday, Sept. 19, 1997, at a Sioux City hospital following a lengthy illness.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Whitfield United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Richard Kretzschmar officiating. Burial will be in Eastview Cemetery at Allen, Neb. Visitation will be from 2 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, with the family present from 6 to 8 p.m. and a prayer service at 7 p.m., at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel.

Mrs. Ashbury was born June 2, 1916, in Smithland, Iowa, the daughter of Frank and Grace (Rogers) Winterringer. She was raised in Sioux City and graduated from East High School. She married Wesley R. Ashbury on Aug. 15, 1936, in Ponca, Neb. She was a homemaker.

She was a member of Whitfield United Methodist Church and was active in the church.

Survivors include her husband; two daughters, Janice and her husband Uuno Kanto of Sioux City and Margaret "Peggy" Pearson of Phoenix, Ariz.; five grandchildren, David and Michelle Kanto, Perry, William and Theodore Pearson; and six great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a brother.
