Carl "Whiskers" Lininger, 84, of Beaver Dam, died Saturday, Feb. 5, 2005 at the Beaver Dam Community Hospital.

Friends may call at the Murray Funeral Home in Beaver Dam on Wednesday, Feb. 9, from 11:30 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. Funeral services will begin at 1:30 p.m. at the funeral home on Wednesday, Feb. 9. The Rev. Emmanuel Udo will officiate. Burial will follow at St. Peter's Catholic Cemetery in the town of Beaver Dam, Dodge County, where the John E. Miller American Legion Post 146 will provide military honors.

Carl Raymond Lininger was born on April 25, 1920, in Turtle Lake, Wis., to the late David and Hattie (Nelson) Lininger. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. On Oct. 30, 1948, Carl was united in marriage with Betty Braker in Beaver Dam. He retired from the city of Beaver Dam in 1982. Carl was the last surviving member of his family.

Survivors include his wife, Betty Lininger, Beaver Dam; nine children, Eileen (Richard) Kranz, Fox Lake, Donna (David) Draheim, Beaver Dam, Karen (Larry) Niceler, Beaver Dam, Ella (Bill) Zak, Waterloo, Gary (Cheryl) Lininger, Beaver Dam, Jean Ann Lininger, Beaver Dam, Thomas (Marty) Lininger, Fox Lake, Michael (Jeanne) Lininger, Beaver Dam, and Linda (Walter) Frey, Beaver Dam; 10 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends

Carl was preceded in death by his parents, and six brothers and sisters.
