Beverly Pauline Grafa was born 12 Sep 1927 to Carroll Baines Grafa, of German decent and Pauline Olson, of Swedish decent. She was born in a home build by her father on West 7th, Fort Worth, Tarrant County, Texas. The pretty little baby became a beautiful little blond haired, very dark eyed girl. She fell in love with a handsome 'fly boy' that her brother told her to stay away from because she was too young and innocent. 3 Aug 1945, Lt. Arthur Shanafelt and Miss Beverly Pauline Grafa were married in a small ceremony at St. Mark's Methodist Church in Fort Worth, Tarrant County, Texas. Beverly wore a brown eyelet dress with aqua trim, brown shoes, bag and hat. She carried a white prayer book topped with an orchid. Elizabeth Shanafelt, sister of the groom was maid of honor and wore a yellow afternoon dress with black accessories and a corsage of carnations. Pat Olney was best man. The city girl and her Lt. moved to Bryson to raise a family. Together they had Sam, Suzette and Shari.

Beverly Grafa Shanafelt, 80, died Sunday, Dec. 30, 2007, at her home in Bryson. Memorial service: 11 a.m. Friday at First United Methodist Church of Bryson. Beverly was born Sept. 12, 1927, in Fort Worth to Pauline Eckman Grafa and Carroll Baines Grafa. She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Carrol Grafa of Midland; and her husband of 54 years, Arthur Shanafelt. Survivors: Son, Sam Shanafelt and wife, Virginia, of Jacksboro; daughters, Suzette Grisham and husband, Buddy, of Bryson and Shari Shanafelt of Fort Worth; grandchildren, Sammy Shanafelt, Shawn Grisham, Christie Grisham, Shane Shanafelt and Carli Stovall; and great-grandchildren, Sierra and Samuel Shanafelt, Sadler and Lauren Shanafelt, Cole and Carson Grisham, Shawnie Allison, Savannah and Isabella Grisham and Suzette and Zoe Stovall.
