PLUM CITY - Martin C. Milliren, 74, of Plum City went to be with the Lord on Thursday, July 2, 2009, at Luther Hospital in Eau Claire after a courageous battle with cancer, surrounded by his family.
Martin was born April 13, 1935, in Arkansaw. He was the son of Fred and Mary (Brenner) Milliren. Martin grew up in the Arkansaw area and graduated from Arkansaw High School in 1953. After high school, Martin farmed for a short time in the Arkansaw area before moving to the farm near Plum City. Martin married Cecilia Wolf on April 23, 1956, in Eau Galle. Martin farmed for more than 40 years until he retired in 1999, and he and Cecilia then moved to Plum City.
Martin is survived by his wife of 53 years, Cecilia; his six children, James (Beth) of Spring Valley, Robert (Mary) of Durand, Kenneth (Leah) of Plum City, Sally Noel of Stillwater, Minn., Susan Milliren of LaSalle, Colo., and Sandi Milliren of St. Paul; his seven grandchildren, Anthony (Amanda), Jordan (Carmen), Adam, Kristen, Hannah, Bradley (Danni) and Ashley; one sister, Mary Jane (Bob) Singerhouse of Menomonie; three brothers, Claire of Owen, Bernard (Darlene) of Arkansaw and Giles (Shirley) of Arkansaw; and nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Lucille Bechel and Marcella Glaus; and one brother, Roy.
Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, July 8, 2009, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Plum City. The Rev. Thomas Donaldson will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, July 7, at Rhiel Funeral Home, Durand, and one hour before services Wednesday at the church.
Arrangements are by Rhiel Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Durand.
