Mrs. Fred E. Keppler, aged 61, well-known resident of the Ada community for a long number of years died at her home southwest of Ada on Monday of this week after only a few days illness. She had been in failing health for the past five years, but had always been able to be up and around until three days before her death. She suffered a slight stroke last Friday and failed gradually, pneumonia finally developing which was the direct cause of her death, which occurred at 12:45 a.m. Monday, April 28th.

Harriet Melinda Bryce was born at Glenwood, Pope county, Minnesota on October 20, 1879. She spent her early youth there and in 1895 she came to Norman county and was united in marriage in September of that year to Fred E. Keppler. Since that time they have made their home in this community, for the past several years on the farm southwest of Ada.
Surviving in addition to her husband are five children, Francis and Louella at home, Lawrence residing near Ada, Louis of Benld, Illinois and Mrs. John Hitner of Ada. Other survivors include two sisters, Mrs. Mary Hillberry of Zillah, Wash. and Mrs. George Bennett of Tacoma, Wash. and thirteen grandchildren. One son, Jay Edward, who died in 1910, has preceded her in death.

Mrs. Keppler was baptized in the Lutheran faith in her youth, and was a kind and loving mother. She had a wide acquaintance throughout the community and was highly respected an esteemed by all who knew her. She will be greatly missed, not only by the immediate members of the family but by a large circle of friends.

Funeral services were conducted at the family home at 1:15 o'clock Wednesday afternoon and at the First Lutheran church in this city at 2 o'clock. Rev. L.C. Jacobson officiated at the rites which were largely attended. Pall bearers were Roy Sturm, Wm. Finske, Harry Turner, Harm Cirks, August Balzum and Gene Germolus. Interment was in the Ada cemetery.

Among the relatives and friends from a distance who were here for the final rites were Mrs. Alta Smith, Glenwood; George Smith, Cyrus, Minn.; Walter Seigne, Moorhead; Mr. and Mrs. Frank Keppler and son Leroy of Rochert, Minn.; Mr. and Mrs. Louis D.
