Mrs. Lula Virginia Newby, 88, died Sunday morning at her home in Gretna, La. She had formerly been a resident of Pascagoula for many years. Mrs. Newby was a native of Arlington, Tenn., and a member of First Baptist Church of Pascagoula.
She is survived by her husband Frank Newby; two sons, Louis Newby, Gretna, La. and Floyd Newby, Patterson, La.; a daughter, Mrs. Leonard Crouchet, New Orleans; eight grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; four sisters, Mrs. Lillie Wascom, Bogalousa, La., Mrs. Vera Cothen, Bogalousa, La., Mrs. Annie Kelly, Curville, Tenn., and Mrs. Ruby King, California.
