Robert L. Cox, longtime Ponca City resident, died Friday, May 22, 2009 at his home. He was 81.
A service will be held at 10am on Tuesday, May 26, 2009 at the Hartford Avenue Church of Christ with Mr. Don Huddleston, Minister, officiating. Burial will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park. Visitation will begin at 8am on Monday, May 25, 2009 at the Trout Funeral Home.
Robert Leroy Cox, the son of Leroy and Lucille Hanes (Swiggart) Cox, was born on Sept. 26, 1927 in Wichita, Kansas. He spent his childhood in Wichita and received his education in Wichita and in Ponca City. Robert served our country in the United States Navy and the United States Army.
On May 5, 1958 Robert married Phyllis Thomas in Oklahoma City. They were blessed with two children. Robert worked for Cox Electric Motors for many years before retirement.
Family members include his daughter Susan Renee Cox and her companion Darrien Dewberry; one son, Roy Lee Cox all of Ponca City; brother, John R. Cox and wife Barbara of Ponca City and sister Cheryl A. Hines of Tulsa; grandchildren, Antonio Cox, Harley Cox and Nina Cox, all of Ponca City.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Bettie J. Underwood.
