Elmer Cletus Mattingly, 83, of Festus entered into rest Sun, July 5, 2009 at Barnes-Jewish Hospital, St Louis.

He was a retired truck driver for Yellow Transit. He was a member of Our Lady Catholic Church, Festus and Knights of Columbus #1230 and US Navy veteran.

Born May 30, 1926, in St Marys, Missouri, to the late Firman & Stella (Gibbar) Mattingly. He was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia (Peter) Mattingly. Survived by daughters: Joyce (James) Lee, St Charles, Missouri and Deborah Lemons, DeSoto, Missouri; sisters: Gertrude Terbrak, Lillian (Alonzo) Zahner, Jean (Junior) Hunt and Agnes (Delbert) Bohnert, all of Perryville, Missouri; grandchildren: Eric Mattingly, Shawn Lemons and Christian Mattingly; and great grandchildren: Brittani Lemons, Brendan Mattingly, Garytt Mattingly and Madison Mattingly.

In addition to his wife and parents he is preceded in death by a son, Gary Mattingly, one brother and two sisters.

Visitation was 5-8 p.m. Thursday, July 9th at the Mahn Twin City Chapel, 515 Collins, Festus.

A funeral for 83-year-old Elmer C. Mattingly was held at 10 a.m. Friday, July 10th at Our Lady Catholic Church, 1550 St. Mary Lane, Festus. The Rev. John Kerber officiated. Burial was in the St. Charles Memorial Gardens.
